Job Description:
1. Lead a multi-disciplinary unit (structural biology, medicinal chemistry, in vitro and in vivo biology, process and formulation, etc) of approximately 90 people to progress innovative discovery projects from target nomination to clinical trials and collaboration licensing;
2. Ensure the unit meet the annual business, research and organizational development objectives set by the company;
3. Develop research and project portfolio strategy;
4. Implement the strategy through effective project management and decision making;
5. Build the organization and people for sustainable project delivery and growth;
6. Ensure the unit operations meeting the safety and relevant regulations;
7. Work with the business develop team to provide scientific and project support for external collaborations and licensing;
8. Provide specific scientific and technical input to projects where needed;
9. Establish a network of scientific collaboration partners;
10. Contribute to company's overall strategy and management.
Requirements:
1. PhD in Biology, Medicine or closely related fields;
2. Expertise and track record in discovery biology, pharmacology, or translational science will be essential;
3. Extensive experience in contributing and leading drug discovery projects from target nomination to clinical development will be required;
4. More than 15 years of relevant experiences in small molecule drug discovery, especially the experience gained in the research centers of major pharmaceutical , biotechnology companies or leading academic centers will be an advantage;
5. Experience in leading large teams will be required;
6. Excellent skills in organization, decision-making, and communication;
7. Capability to analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner;
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English);
9. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional interactions;
10. Strong commercial awareness will be desirable.
